Dr Benjamin Marlow
GDC: 192466
Biography
Having graduated from Leeds University in 2010, Ben stayed locally, working as both an NHS dentist in Bradford and a maxillofacial (head and neck) senior house officer at the Bradford Royal Infirmary. After seven years in the North of England, Ben decided enough was enough. He couldn’t take any more rain, and headed south to London. Ben worked for two years as a community dental officer, providing treatment to those in society who found it most difficult to access care. During this time, he visited care homes and housebound patients, providing dentistry to people who otherwise would have had no means of receiving it. Ben was also in charge of providing a weekly service to homeless patients in Hackney alongside care for those with drink or drug habits via a mobile dental unit. It was here Ben learned to provide treatment under both IV sedation and gas and air, for patients suffering from extreme dental phobia. Being given the time to build a strong rapport with a nervous patient, and then being able to successfully provide them with a new-found confidence in dentists (and a great new smile) has to be one of the most rewarding roles he has had to date. It was after these two years Ben began his specialty training as an orthodontist at the Eastman Dental Institute, London. He spent three years there, learning about all things brace related and successfully graduated in 2017. He had the chance to complete an MSc during his time at the Eastman, investigating Ethical Advertising in Orthodontics, and how the use of social media is affecting our speciality. Ben now works as a specialist orthodontist at The Nightingale Clinic, providing NHS and private orthodontics, which includes Invisalign treatment.
