Biography

Dr Alexander Crighton is a respected Consultant in Oral Medicine who has been working as an NHS specialist in Scotland since 1999. He has managed cases in all parts of Scotland and is establishing a Specialist Primary Care Oral Medicine service based in Edinburgh. Dr Crighton graduated from the University of Edinburgh in both Dentistry and in Medicine and was successful in obtaining the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He holds a Specialty Fellowship in Oral Medicine, is on the General Dental Council's specialist list in Oral Medicine and has a full licence to practice from the General Medical Council. Some Oral Medicine conditions require a hospital treatment due to the nature of the investigations and monitoring required. However many common and debilitating issues can be successfully managed in primary care and Dr Crighton will work with patients, their doctors and their dentists to help patients without the need for a hospital wait. Dr Crighton's clinical areas of special interest include chronic non-dental facial pain, oral mucosal disease and Oral Medicine problems in children and he is happy to consider referrals from all medical and dental colleagues.
