Biography
Jon graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham in 1987, earning a distinction in clinical dentistry. He later completed his MSc in implant dentistry at Warwick University, again with distinction. With over 30 years of experience in dental implants—including more than 5,000 placed in the last decade—he transitioned from general dentistry to focus on implant treatments with aesthetic outcomes. His early interest in porcelain veneers led him to use electron microscopy to study acid etching and to construct and fit veneers at Birmingham Dental Hospital. Jon’s journey into implant dentistry began as an undergraduate, visiting Cendres+Mataux and Straumann in Switzerland, followed by attendance at one of the first implant symposiums in Basel, where he observed the pioneering work of Prof. Dr. Daniel Buser. After graduation, he trained under two ITI fellows, placing his first implant in 1989. Jon pursued further education at leading institutions, including the Malo Clinic in Lisbon, where he was introduced to immediate implant loading for full-arch rehabilitation. At his Wolverhampton Clinic, he focuses on guiding patients through tooth loss to restoration with Straumann implants, offering both fixed prostheses and overdentures. Digital technologies, CADCAM processes, and surgical techniques learned at the Malo Clinic are central to his approach. For over 36 years, Jon has maintained a close relationship with Straumann, benefiting from professional development opportunities and early access to new products. He exclusively places Straumann implants, ensuring predictable long-term outcomes. He also mentors colleagues new to implant dentistry through Straumann and has presented lectures to local dentists and ITI study groups.
